UNITED WAY OF SARNIA-LAMBTON REACHES GOALDecember 22, 2006-----The United Way of Sarnia-Lambton is thrilled to announce that it has reached 100% of its $1,810,000 goal, just in time for Christmas. Executive Director, Dave Brown says the community deserves a big thank you, "We ran into some difficulties in late November because the campaign was lagging quite a bit. After letting the community know we needed help, Sarnia-Lambton residents and businesses came through for us in a big way. We couldn't have done this without their support." Brown says United Way staff were uncertain about whether the goal would be met by Christmas this year, as it traditionally has. Thanks to a number of generous donors and some outstanding workplace campaign pledges in the past week, the trend of announcing the goal before December 25th is able to continue this year.
The 2006 United Way campaign goal is $10,000 higher than last year's target, which was also met.
The United Way of Sarnia-Lambton, a member of the Better Business Bureau of Western Ontario, funds over 65 programs and services through 29 Funded Agencies. In 2007, the United Way of Sarnia-Lambton will be celebrating its 50 year anniversary.
