The United Way officially wrapped up 2007 with its 51st Annual General Meeting this week.
The highlight of the evening was the presentation of both the Day of Caring Award, and the 2007 Volunteer of the Year award.
President Rob Moore announced for the first time, a duo winner of the Volunteer of the Year, Dave and Jan Christensen. Moore said it was impossible to not recognize both Dave and Jan as the co-winners this year. Both Dave and Jan are retired teachers with the Lambton Kent District School Board.
“Dave and Jan have been on the United Way campaign team for years representing the public elementary schools. Without Dave and Jan, I am certain we would not be nearly as successful as we are within the schools. The Christensens are well known for their United Way support throughout Lambton County,” Moore said. Christensen, a solid believer in promoting participation in the campaign has pledged for years to cook breakfast at every public school in the county who achieves 100% participation in the United Way Campaign. “We are very fortunate to have Dave and Jan on our side,” Moore added.
