Donor Option

The Donor Option program allows Donors the flexibility to direct some, or the entire donation to a specific agency of their choice. The agency may or may not be funded by the United Way.  The Donor's agency of choice must have be registered as a Charitable Organization in good standing with Canada Revenue Agency and hold a valid Business Number. In fact, last year approximately $62,000 was directed to specific agencies not funded by the United Way of Sarnia-Lambton.

The Donor Option also allows donors to negatively donate to a specific Funded Organization. Last year, less than $500 was given to United Way for allocations on the condition that their donations NOT go to the agency specified on the Donor Option Card. Donors must donate a minimum of $10 in order to direct donations through the Donor Option program!

How Does Donor Option Work?

The process is very simple. The Donor completes a Donor Option Card along with the pledge card. Both are submitted to the canvasser; or the Donor can pass both cards directly to the United Way of Sarnia-Lambton. Completed Donor option cards must be returned to the United Way prior to December 31 of each year.


Please Note......

• The United Way does not include the donations being directed to Non Funded Agencies as part of the total campaign results which gives the United Way a more accurate figure as to how much money was raised for its local Funded Organizations.
• Remember all Donor Option Cards must be submitted to United Way prior to December 31 of each year.
